Out Together

  • Windsor Information Centre 321 Gerrish St Windsor, NS (map)

We’re excited to share something new with you a project we hope will make a real difference here in West Hants Regional Municipality. It’s called Out Together.

Out Together isn’t just another social group. It’s a space where 2SLGBTQ+ folks and allies can come together, connect, and build the kind of community that makes people want to work, live, and stay in their rural community.

Too often, queer folks leave rural towns searching for safety, visibility, or simply a place where they don’t feel alone. That migration takes with it stories, energy, and possibility that could belong here too.

This project is about changing that story. Through regular meetups, inclusive events, and affirming programming, Out Together creates a space where people can show up as their authentic selves. When you have that when you feel seen, supported, and safe it’s not just about surviving in a small town, it’s about thriving.

Strong community ties matter. They boost mental health, build resilience, and nurture a sense of self-worth. And it goes deeper because belonging also shapes the way we imagine our futures. Out Together opens the door for queer folks to picture what it means to age in place, queer style to grow older here, to build families and friendships, to invest in a future without having to leave home just to find acceptance.

At West Hants Pride Society, we believe inclusion shouldn’t mean relocation. Out Together is one way we’re putting that belief into practice making space for people to stay, to grow, and to call this place home for the long haul.

We want to start a conversation, and Out Together is more than a program. it’s a collective effort. We’re building a space where queer folks and allies can stand together, shape the future, and make it possible to not just live here, but to belong here.

We invite you to be part of the conversation, to bring your voice, your presence, and your vision. Together, we can ensure that West Hants is a place where 2SLGBTQ+ people don’t have to leave to feel safe, supported, and seen a place where we can live, love, and age in place, queer style.
